Monday marks the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks — the deadliest such attack on U.S. soil — which took the lives of nearly 3,000 people.
A gaggle of 19 terrorists tied to the Islamic extremist group al-Qaida targeted Latest York and Washington, D.C. with hijacked planes. Over 400 first responders were killed within the aftermath of the collapse of the Twin Towers on the World Trade Center.
Every yr, the nation honors the lives lost at ground zero, the 184 individuals who died within the attack on the Pentagon and people in Shanksville, Pa., where plane passengers successfully overtook the terrorists but died because the aircraft crashed.
