In an exclusive interview, Attorney General Merrick Garland responded to questions of whether former President Trump’s potential candidacy would impact the Department of Justice’s Jan. 6 investigation. Garland tells NBC News’ Lester Holt, “We pursue justice without fear or favor. We intend to hold everyone, anyone who was criminally responsible for the events surrounding January 6, for any attempt to interfere with the lawful transfer of power from one administration to another, accountable, that’s what we do. We don’t pay any attention to other issues with respect to that.”

At 4:40 Garland avoids answering a question whether DT’s declaring his 2024 presidential run would deter the DOJ from charging him with crimes. In essence the AG answers a question of TIMING within a general answer that anyone is above the law. Again, he clearly AVOIDS answering the timing question which indicates that he most likely would NOT charge DT with crimes if DT did declare his presidential run. If Garland cannot clearly declare today that DT’s presidential candidacy will not stop him from charging DT with crimes (if deserved) then Garland needs to be replaced with someone who would.

First of all, hearing these words are refreshing, you have to do this to a viewing public who hears the weekly caustic, offensive, re-hash of the Big Lie on the "fraudulent election, etc" from Donald Trump, who uses that PROVOCATIVE Big Lie as a gimmick to raise funds for himself, not even the Republican Party, and pluasibly attempt to then represent the Republican Party in a run for President. Why not publicly pay Mr. Trump a visit with FBI agents and advise him in person that he now faces legal action due to his repeating his provocative and irresponsible speeches, backed up with existing video tapes, text messages, Tweets, and the Ellipse speech, and the conspiratorial efforts of his members of his Cabinet and Attorneys. Hold him personally responsible, and do it in public to his face, inviting the media to tape your actions.
