WOW! Heartfelt thanks on your generosity this #GivingTuesday. We had a record-breaking yr by raising greater than $105,000 for our media ministry from greater than 1,500 donors. On my last day as America’s editor in chief, I’m humbled by this extraordinary show of support that may enable us to leverage the momentum of the last, transformative 10 years into our next exciting phase of growth.
Tomorrow, the America Media Board of Directors and staff will have a good time a Mass as Father Sam Sawyer, SJ, begins his tenure because the fifteenth editor in chief, and Traug Keller assumes the role as president of the organization. Father Sawyer told me that he’ll include a listing of all of our donors – including those that gave on #GivingTuesday – on the altar in order that together they’ll pray in thanksgiving for the generosity of our entire community.

Thanks for recognizing the importance of civil and respectful dialogue across the political and ideological spectrum. Thanks for creating opportunities for us all to deepen our faith and follow Christ’s example more fully. And most of all, thanks on your encouragement and prayers during the last ten years. I couldn’t have done it without you, nor would I would like to.
