Keeping your wits about you while on the streets of NYC is smart. But being so afraid of getting mugged or drugged you could’t benefit from the city so-nice-they-named-it-twice is “ridiculous,” based on the web critics of one terrified tourist.
“Stay secure in Recent York,” Victoria, a notoriously overly cautious mom, captioned a viral vid of her anti-crime hacks during a visit to the Big Apple, where shootings and other malfeasances have recently reached a record low.
“I’ll share some suggestions that helped me stay aware and revel in the town with none issues,” the married mom announced to her over 7.8 million TikTok viewers — lots of whom were unmoved, and even offended, by Victoria’s panicked precautions.
From weaving the strap of her purse between her thighs to make sure that no ruffians made off with the handbag while she sipped coffee outdoors near Times Square, to barricading the door of her hotel room with towels, clothes hangers and an upturned ironing board for fear of nighttime trespassers, the blond took safeguarding to excessive extremes.
And annoyed Recent Yorkers let her comprehend it.
“Girl, Recent York is NOT this dangerous,” an irked commenter assured.
“Are you okay?” a concerned viewer asked sarcastically, followed by a separate spectator declaring, “That is ridiculous.”

Snide remarks from the cyber cynics aside, a faction of parents on the web actually applauded Victoria’s hyper-vigilance.
Fans were most supportive of the mother’s move to strap an Apple AirTag bracelet to her six-year-old son’s wrist during a night stroll around midtown, where slashings and kidnappings still abound, despite improvements in public safety.
