Dukes up for a bridge-and-tunnel battle.
Perhaps unsurprising to many, tropical paradise Hawaii has been crowned the friendliest state in America, based on a recent study.
But in a head-tilting move, Recent York was deemed the third-friendliest behind second-place finisher … Recent Jersey?
“I’ve never met anyone nice from Recent Jersey,” Keith Toliver, 74, pointedly told The Post — with a smile — while passing through Penn Station this week. He was amongst those The Post randomly polled in regards to the scandalous finding from bespoke travel site Journeyscape, which analyzed Reddit posts, the number of tourists from overseas, LGBTQ+ equality and “happiness” scores from WalletHub.
“I feel Recent York is a greater place to be,” the native Recent Yorker added.
“Recent York gets a foul rap,” said Recent Jersey commuter Michael Claps, 63, who previously lived within the Empire State. “It’s really third? That’s shocking.”
Despite the fact that he now lives across the river, he had no problem defending his former state of residence.
“I feel Recent York persons are super friendly,” he declared, adding with fun, “those I know, a minimum of.”

Nonetheless, Devika Kumar, who grew up in Recent Jersey but now lives in NYC, believes that her current stomping grounds are “just as nice” as her home state.
“It has a foul status, but persons are really, really kind, you understand?” the 27-year-old told The Post. “Persons are very welcoming and friendly. I mean, you refer to me, I’m here, I’ll provide you with directions.
“We are able to have an abrasive front, I feel, and are available across a little bit bit hard to approach, but we’re actually nice people on the earth,” she continued.
Ex-Recent Yorker Dylan Layman, 31 — who was visiting from Montana — agreed, adding that each states have “had a foul rep for many years” and specifically believes it’s “outdated” to think the Big Apple and its neighbor are rude.
He added that the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple is vital to its affability.
“I feel it helps that they see more people in a day,” he explained. “The more people you see in a day, the more probabilities you could have to be friendly.”
Laura, a 60-year-old Recent Jersey native who preferred not to disclose her last name, agreed that Recent York shouldn’t be that standoffish.
“If you happen to’re walking down the road and also you smile at someone, they’re gonna smile back.”
Nonetheless, after a pause, she noted that Recent York is “probably” friendlier than its neighboring state.
“I feel Recent York’s probably a little bit tougher, possibly people aren’t as friendly [as] they may very well be,” she said. “But again, in case you put a smile in your face and say, ‘Hello,’ they’ll talk or they’ll smile back.”
San Francisco resident Shafeeq Ibraheem, 29, was pleasantly surprised to seek out Recent Yorkers very friendly and helpful during his trip from the West Coast. He even revealed that individuals helped him carry his luggage through the subway and otherwise helped him get around. (To be honest, even we’re a little bit shocked by that.)
He did, nonetheless, offer one clarification.
“California is good but not kind,” he said, “and Recent York is kind but not nice.”
But let’s be real.
There are friendly and unfriendly people all over the place you go, based on Jersey guy Andrew Fernandez.
“I’ve been around in numerous parts of Jersey, and also you’re going to satisfy a number of different those who are more friendly than they’re in numerous areas,” he summed things up for The Post, adding, “And sometimes if you travel to different parts of Recent York, you’ll meet some rude people.”
