“The injury that [Skylar Thompson] sustained has been form of labor-some getting back, so we’re planning on going with Tyler [Huntley],” McDaniel told reporters. “After reviewing the tape, there’s reasons for guys to be enthusiastic about that. While the final result wasn’t nearly what we wanted offensively, there have been some things to construct upon that we’ll keep working through and we’re excited to try this tomorrow.”

Huntley struggled throughout the Dolphins’ 31-12 loss on Monday night, throwing for just 96 yards on 14-of-22 attempts, although he ran for 40 yards and a touchdown.

The Dolphins’ offense has struggled since losing starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa during their Week 2 matchup against the Bills on Sept. 12, managing just 15 total points in nine-plus quarters since he went down.

Tagovailoa suffered the fourth known concussion of his profession during that game, which is able to keep him out for a minimum of two more weeks, if not longer.

The Dolphins replaced Tagovailoa with Thompson because the starter throughout the team’s 24-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks per week later.

He left that game within the third quarter with a rib injury and missed Monday night’s game.

Huntley played 19 games (eight starts) with the Ravens over the past three seasons after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2020 before being signed off Baltimore’s practice squad last month.

Tim Boyle, who was in consideration to start out Monday’s game, is currently serving as Huntley’s backup.
