
Perdue Foods has issued a recall for a whole bunch of hundreds of kilos of frozen chicken nuggets ami fears of metal fragment contamination.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall in a press release Friday, stating that over 167,000 kilos of frozen nuggets could possibly contain “foreign materials, specifically metal.”
After customers complained of finding “metal wire embedded within the product,” the agency was notified and discovered that the contaminated goods were produced on Mar. 23.
While there haven’t been any injuries or illnesses reported consequently of consuming the products, FSIS said it “is anxious that some product could also be in consumers’ freezers.”
“We determined the fabric to be a really thin strand of metal wire that was inadvertently introduced into the manufacturing process,” Perdue’s senior vp of food safety and quality, Jeff Shaw, said in an announcement.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we decided to voluntarily recall all of those packages of products.”
The Perdue products that will have been contaminated are labeled with the plant number “P-33944” and have “Best if Used By” dates of Mar. 23, 2025.
The products recalled are the 22-ounce plastic package of Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets, 29-ounce package of Perdue Chicken Breast Tenders and the 22-ounce package of Butcherbox Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets.
If customers still have these products of their homes, they’re advised to throw it away, return it to the purpose of purchase or call Perdue at 866-866-3703 for a refund.
