Marlon Humphrey caught flak for slamming Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles’ act of sportsmanship.
After the conclusion of the ladies’s floor exercise final on Monday during which Biles won silver and Chiles earned bronze, the American duo bowed to Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, who stood atop the rostrum because the gold medalist, for an iconic Olympic photo op.
Humphrey, the Ravens cornerback, described the gesture as “literally disgusting” on X and was quickly hit with a storm of backlash.
“Yeah, because giving someone their flowers who has come back from THREE ACL tears to proceed to be a top gymnast is disgusting,” one X user wrote.
“Yeah good sportsmanship to a competitor that got here back from 3 ACL injuries is literally disgusting! kick rocks lol,” one other added.
“You when people show good sportsmanship,” a 3rd wrote, accompanied by the viral video of former MLB star David Ortiz smashing the dugout phone.
The tweet by the three-time Pro Bowler, whose 2023 season was affected by injuries, received over seven million views and a couple of,000 remarks.
The official Olympics X account shared the photo of the rostrum finishers shortly after the competition, writing, “That is every little thing.”
The post has amassed over 723,000 likes in lower than 24 hours of being shared.
Humphrey, 28, responded to his critics Monday night.
“I’m lowkey getting cooked right away. I feel I’m getting cussed out in Brazilian on Instagram lol,” Humphrey wrote on X.
Andrade — who notched silvers in the person all-around and ladies’s vault, plus a bronze within the team all-around — narrowly defeated Biles to win her first gold medal of the 2024 Games.
The 25-year-old, who has undergone three ACL surgeries, earned a 14.166 rating, while the American star fell short with a 14.133, following a couple of landing deductions.
Chiles snagged the bronze on inquiry at 13.766 for her first individual Olympic medal.

Andrade also went head-to-head with Team USA’s lineup three years ago in Tokyo, capturing gold in vault and silver in all-around.
“I don’t wish to compete with Rebeca no more. I’m drained!” Biles said, in accordance with USA Today. “It’s way too close. … It definitely put me on my toes, and it brought out the very best athlete in myself. So I’m excited and proud to compete together with her but… I don’t prefer it!”
Biles, who many dub as “the GOAT,” still earned 4 overall medals from Paris, including three in gold (team all-around, individual all-around and vault).
