The Rangers have acquired a veteran forward from one among their rivals.
The Blueshirts announced Monday they traded for Reilly Smith, sending the Penguins a 2025 conditional fifth-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick for the veteran winger.
Pittsburgh is retaining 25 percent ($1.25 million) of Reilly’s $5 million cap hit for next season, the ultimate 12 months of his contract.

The Penguins acquired Smith last summer from Vegas after he won a Stanley Cup with the Golden Knights.
