Assault rifles should only be owned by land owning citizens. Extended pistol magazine are only allowed to home owning citizens and illegal possession of one should face you jail time. Also magazine are more dangerous than the rifles themselves, the magazines need to be identified and kept track of. Every citizen that meets the requirements for firearm purchase has the right to own a shotgun or rifle, but kids or lunatics going out and buying a rifle just to kill needs to be stopped. The waiting period for all firearms is a start but we need training and a system that keeps track of firearms.

The stupidity of NY and why many gun owners think Dems cannot think logically:
1. NY bans alternative methods of self defense. You cannot even buy pepper spray that is not "state approved". It cannot be mailed to you if you order it. Seriously! They ban everything that is even slightly effective as an alternative! Good luck using pepper spray anyway. They will find your body with it in your hand.
2. NY bans body armor which could be used by citizens who don't want to carry a gun but also want to defend themselves from serious harm. So, if you are in a mass shooting, NY state says you must be EASY TO KILL.
3. NY state releases criminals found to be carrying illegal handguns, without bail. They do this every day in NY state. Tough on guns? NOPE. NY contradicts it's self.
NY hates self defense! They want you to wait for the police, who won't show up in time to save you. Then they can blame gun owners instead of the criminals and their own stupid laws!
Time to sue, it is still restriction to our 2nd amendment rights.
If they can make this a safe zone, then they can make anyplace in NYC a safe zone, Like brooklyn, where most shootings happen, The train, where Criminals carry guns, knives, hammers, and push you into the tracks.
