Life in plastic just isn’t incredible for these girls.
Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated upcoming “Barbie” film was spoofed on “Saturday Night Live” with the favored TV show announcing its own spin-off of one other popular doll brand, the American Girls.
The prerecorded clip, which aired on April 15, begins by showing clips from Gerwig’s upcoming film.
“People can’t stop talking concerning the brand latest ‘Barbie’ movie,” says the narrator. “But not everyone can live in a dream house.”
“Some are younger, greater or sadder,” continues the narration. “Some dolls are American Girls.”
The camera then pans up to disclose five other solid members dressed because the fictious dolls.
Each doll introduces themselves revealing a little bit of the horror they’ve handled.
“I’m a b–chy orphan from Victorian times, said Chloe Fineman who plays the doll named Samantha. ” I watched my parents die in a ship.
“My daddy’s a prisoner of war,” says Molly (played Molly Kearney), a World War II-era doll . “And tragically, I actually have glasses.”
“That’s okay, My mama is dead, said Josefina (played by host Ana de Armas). “We buried her within the church graveyard.
“That’s OK,” says Addy — played by Ego Nwodim — a black girl who grew up throughout the Civil War. “I don’t know my birthday because I’m a runaway slave.”
The narration continues by saying that, unlike the Margot Robbie-led film, there are not any pink corvettes, no boyfriends.
“Did all their members of the family die of vague, old-timey diseases? Absolutely,” said the narration. “Come for the fun, stay for the overburdened preteens wearing 4 layers of petticoats and pantaloons.”
At one solemn point within the trailer, Josefina reveals that the memory of her mother is slipping away.
Shortly after, Kit (played by Sarah Sherman) reveals her latest talent of coughing up blood right into a handkerchief.
The trailer then cuts to the 4 girls covering Sherman’s body with a sheet.
In line with the parody, the film would concentrate on each of the women in an try and tackle the trendy world.
“I’m gonna stop World War II,” declares Molly.
“And I’m going to stop the Spanish-American War,” says Josefina.
“And I’m going to finish Cholera,” says Kit who subsequently starts coughing blood again.
The skit then ends with the solid tossing one other sheet-covered body off of the carriage.
“Barbie” which starts Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie, Will Ferrel, Kate McKinnon and a number of other others is ready to hit theatres on July 23.
