It’s infrequently you see an NFL player give a possible end date to their profession – but that appears to be what star Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill did this week.

Appearing on the “Totally Offensive” podcast, Hill was asked how for much longer he plans to play within the NFL, and the All-Pro receiver gave a shorter window than one could have anticipated.

“I’m going for 10,” Hill said. “I’m going to complete out this contract with the Dolphins after which I’m going to call it quits.”

By “10,” Hill appeared to mean he’ll play ten total seasons within the NFL, with seven already under his belt.

It’s a surprising admission for a player that may be very much in his prime, having just finished the 2022 season with 1,710 receiving yards – second within the league.

He’s coming off one of the best season of his profession from a statistical standpoint and remains to be only 29.

Hill is definitely under contract for 4 more seasons, though the ultimate yr of his deal (2026) would carry a large $56 million cap hit, and the team can get out of his deal before that with minimal damage to the dead cap.

It could have been just an offhand comment on a podcast, and Hill has no reason to stick with the timeline he offered, nevertheless it’s still interesting to listen to the superstar wideout considering of his profession in those terms.

If he were to hold up his cleats early, Hill did offer some insight into what he’d wish to do as an alternative of football.

“I really need to get into the gaming space,” Hill said. “I really need to get huge in that and that’s sort of what I’m doing immediately. I’m using my platform to create a gaming team, which isn’t launched yet. It should launch by the top of this month. I’m going to simply sign different content creators, different athletes. I just been working that, talking to different sponsors.

“I would like to accomplish that many things in my life.”

Hill spent six seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs before being traded to the Dolphins last offseason, winning a Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes and Co. in 2020.

After the 2021 season, the Dolphins sent a first-rounder, a second-rounder, and three late-round picks to Kansas City in exchange for the electrical receiver.
