Prices in the US are rising at their fastest rate for more than 40 years due to petrol and food costs remaining high, latest figures show.
Inflation, the rate at which prices rise, hit 9.1% in the 12 months to June and increased by 1.3% from May alone, the Labor Department said.
US petrol prices hit record highs last month, averaging above $5 per gallon.
It has led to predictions that the US central bank will hike interest rates further later this month.

Nothing to do with Biden then,😂😂😂😂😂😂
Trump created the best economy America had ever had and the BBC trashed him every day. Biden wrecks it in two years and the BBC News treats him with kid gloves. Change the name to, BBC Left.
When it comes to investing, diversification is the key, that's why I engage in sectors based on projected growth. There's no shortcut to getting rich but there are smart ways to go about it
There are a few factors at play here.
The first is that the cost of living in the US has been on the rise for quite some time now. This is due to things like housing costs, healthcare costs, and education costs continuing to increase year after year.
Secondly, amid concerns about inflation and high gas prices, the US central bank has been gradually raising interest rates over the past few years. And as we know from Economics 101, higher interest rates lead to higher borrowing costs and consequentlyHigher prices across the board (including gasoline).
So there you have it: chronic increases in everyday expenses + gradual rate hikes = today's reality of very high inflation levels in America.
Americans full of complaints! There problems largely of their own making. Huge personal trucks and SUVs that get 10 mpg flood the roads. Many of the interviewed are still paper millionaires with huge capital gains in their own oversized homes and investment accounts. Yes a recession likely on the way but media tip toes around the subject not wanting to frighten millennials that have so recently crawled out of their Covid shelters. Too many younger Americans were coddled and spoiled by their parents and can’t cope with adversity! Too bad life is tough! Old white people who are largely comfortable and made fortunes in stocks are the loudest complainers. I have zero sympathy for them. Sadly there is a large underclass, which provides the cheap labor for relatively rich whites, that few care about. Your BBC reporter didn’t bother with them either.
Wait what Biden is sucking on lamb kebab

Welcome to Bidens build back better plan
This is the special "economic" operation by the West.
In EU, UK, USA, Canada, and Australia, the Domestic Violence Laws are used to confiscate the assets of husbands, to break families, to steal their children and convert them to prostitutes…
The Lord gave you Mr. Putin to make pay 100,000 times for what you stole from the poor hard working husbands.
You deserve what Mr.Putin is doing to you.
Controlled collapse all buy design. To Build Back Better you need to destroy first.

Everyone keeps saying this but the only big price jump I’ve noticed is eggs. Vegetables seem the same. Bread, crackers, chips might’ve gone up a little. Gas is up 20 cents. Idk I definitely don’t cal this "skyrocketing prices"
All world crisis is planned by Bill Gates, Rothschild, Rockefeller foundations
Your end is near
LEFTWING TERRORISTS ,PEDOPHILIA ERIC GILL ART LOVER BBC CARE ABOUT INFLATION. I LIKE THE JOKE.
In summary, things are bad and things will get worse and things might get out of hand. Worse is our government pretends like they don't see it. I for one has been hit very hard and at this point, I am more interested in a solution because I don't think an end is near. What is the way forward for the less fortunate ones like me? How do we survive this phase? I am slowly losing my mind.
