Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob has rejected criticism from Ukrainian President Zelenskyy of repairs to the Nord Stream 1 pipeline.

“I agree with him on many things, but not on this one”, Golob said, in an interview with DW’s Richard Walker.

Golob was referring to the need for a turbine for the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline that links Russia to Germany to be returned to service in Russia as soon as possible. The turbine has been under repair in Canada, where it was blocked as a result of sanctions imposed against Russia. Ottawa has now agreed to allow its return to Germany.
The supply of gas from Russia to Germany is crucial to keep Europe strong, Golob argued.

“If gas flows resume, that’s a good sign for Europe and later for Ukraine as well”, Golob said. “Right now, Ukraine deserves all the support it can get from Europe”, Golob said.

But Europe had to stay strong in order to provide support. “By weakening Europe at its heart in Germany, at its industrial base – it doesn’t help Ukraine at all.”

Golob is a freshman in politics, which explains his awkwardness, but he is a veteran in the energy industry sector.

Canada is being sued by Ukraine for this treacherous act of sending the turbines back. Soon Germany will get sued as well. If Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob is not being careful, he might get sued by Zelensky as well.

Zelensky refused to accept when supply of oil & gas from Russia to Europe is strong – more factories in Europe could produce guns & ammunition for Ukraine to obliterate Russia for good

Support for Ukraine, including financial from those I know, from Ireland and India.
Putin has declared war not just on Ukraine, not just those who oppose his terrorism but also in those who have relied on Russian fossil fuel to keep people alive and in countries that needed Ukrainian food exports. Putin is a liar, a mass murderer and an egoist driven by resentment over the fall of the Soviet Union. His interference in countries around the world to sow unrest, subvert elections, use covert forces has been clearly exposed. And his role in the Moscow apartment bombings has made clear that he has not even the slightest humanity even for the lives of Russians.
In some ways it's good that Putin has catalysed a rethink on fossil fuels, though short term it will be painful.
This has moved well beyond just considering what is financially less painful.

  23. William Cooper says:

All's you need to know about why Putin should not be in control of more territory and resources, is demonstrated in how he has invaded his neighbor, murdered civilians, destroyed literally everything, threatening the world with nuclear weapons, stealing grain from the mouths of the starving, cutting off resources. This man is a bully, a thug and a war criminal. He needs to be driven out of Ukraine and isolated as a global terrorists and a threat to global security.

Germany seems to be thinking very short term, all about winter 2022, but if Russia takes control of Ukraine (or just the Easten portion) Russia will have contol over even more energy and food sources, not to mention the sea of Azov. You think Putin will suddenly start playing nice after he has all of that? Id love the "experts" to study the "better pain than suffering" idea – stop buying energy from russia now and maybe this can be done before winter and we save some lives. Yep, I'd love to see that study.

  27. Roman Malynovskyi says:

Every day, Russia spends $900 million on the war in Ukraine. These funds go toward maintaining Russian soldiers, providing them with ammunition, and repairing equipment. Such daily expenditures are comparable, for example, to the annual GDP of the small island nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Russia funds its war in Ukraine with gas and oil sales. In the meantime, 30% of Russia's territory still doesn't have a centralized gas supply. The Russian Federation plans to finish connecting citizens to the gas grid only in 2030. Interestingly, in 2022 Russia plans to spend only $1.5 billion on gas networks. Instead of improving the quality of life for its citizens, modern Russian funds wars. As long as Russia makes enormous profits from its energy monopoly in Europe and Asia, the threat of new wars remains high. The world must refuse Russian oil and gas as soon as possible because it keeps financing wars!
