At least six are dead after a Fourth of July parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park was ended in gunfire.

Lake County Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said the gunman apparently opened fire from a rooftop. A rifle was recovered at the scene, but the suspect should still be considered armed and dangerous, Covelli said.
The 21-year-old suspect, who was arrested late Monday, used a rifle “similar to an AR-15” to spray more than 70 rounds from a rooftop at the parade crowd. The suspect had purchased five firearms, including one rifle found at the scene, one found in his car and other weapons seized from his father’s home.
