Three men were rescued by the US Coast Guard after being spotted clinging to the hull of their capsized boat off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina, Thursday.

A very good Samaritan contacted Coast Guard watchstanders just before 7:30 a.m. to report an overturned 23-foot boat with three men on it, the Coast Guard said.

A search and rescue crew from Station Charleston sped to the scene and pulled the unfortunate seafarers from the water.

The soggy survivors were then taken to emergency medical services on the local Coast Guard station but didn’t report any injuries.

The identities of the rescued men haven’t been released as of Friday.

“That is a first-rate example of how quickly things can go unsuitable in a matter of seconds,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Harry Seibert. “It will be important mariners check their vessel for all of the mandatory safety equipment onboard and monitor weather conditions prior to getting on the water.”

It was not immediately known what caused the boat to capsize.

The vessel’s owner was coordinating with a business salvage company to get better the sunken boat.
