17-year-old Addison Bethea was hunting for scallops on the Keaton Beach shore in Florida when a shark grabbed onto her leg and thrashed her around. Her firefighter brother tourniquet her leg which aided in saving her life. A shark had been spotted four days prior in the same spot. This incident comes after an attack in the Florida Keys on Wednesday and another in California eight days ago. Though statistically, shark attacks are less probable than being killed by a firework, concerns arise as climate change warms waters bringing sharks closer to shores.

"the sharks are not out to get us" tell that to the people recently attacked.
Doesn't anyone in Florida have a machete?
Humans are killing a lot of their food poluting their water, causing climate change which further ruins their homes. Though sharks don't naturally attack people, we are tourists in their homes and if we keep going into the ocean, we cannot be surprised when things like this happen.
That said, I hope the sheila is okay.
And overfishing because of OVERPOPULATION !!
We are in their home, not the other way around.
I rather die from fireworks than a shark.
So there’s these animals that live the ocean….
I know Addison and pls don’t talk bad about her
obviously you forgot to swim with your anti shark semi automatic rifle SMH
Lol life guard at the end
If they're blind cannibals I sure don't see why a person swimming like a fish isn't food. They always say that but sure enough they sell shark repellent for a reason.
Strange you’re not blaming Putin for this one.
There's NO such thing as a "rare incident" when it comes to SHARK or BEAR ATTACKS anymore! Remember that when you are in the ocean OR bear territory, ANYWHERE in the world anymore!
I’m sure swimming with fireworks isn’t as dangerous
My god.. NBC manages to sneak in global warming into a shark attack story. wow
Solution; lift protections on man eating sharks, allow open fishing for man eating sharks, have drone spotters and armed patrol boats at swimming surfing beaches.
Wow. Addison Bethea has an amazing attitude. Her brave brother is a hero. At 17 years old, she is an inspiration. God is with her. Her faith in God, and the support of her family and friends will help her through to recovery. Prayers 🙏
They not out to get us? The fudge
For the past 6yrs my family has gone to Keaton beach almost weekly during the summer. I hate that the young girl was attacked, I can't even begin to imagine what she and her family has been through and I pray that she has a speedy recovery.
I've never seen a large predatory shark at Keaton. I only ever see Bonnethead and Dusky Smooth-hound sharks. Neither of those pose a viable threat to humans.
Here from tik tok lol
statistically you become shark food when you swim next to them
