They don’t want to return to the office because half their work force probably moved out of NY and are probably living in one of the red states, enjoying the low cost of living, nicer people, lower crime and homelessness. All while they’re sitting in their homes pushing their leftist agenda with biased reporting.
I've been working from home for over 10 years and hate it while also liking it. Mainly there is no way I would voluntarily commute to work with the option of staying at home. However, I'm very social and really miss the office. In the end, money wins, and working from home is much cheaper than the commute.

8 percent should be compensated to the employees. They agreed on pay based on the economy at the time. If the economy changes then the companies who profit from their labor should have to accommodate to that. Companies do it all the time to customers. If it’s harder on the company, the company gets the difference from the customer. If property taxes go up, the owner raises rent. So why should this mentality be different for employees providing a service to their employer? It shouldn’t .

What it the big push for employees to go to the office. I'm an IT engineer and my job has been WFH since before COVID. My company is 60% WFH and we've found that we get far more work done this way. I live an hour from my office. Now that I am not driving into the office, I still get up at the same time. I start work earlier because I don't have to drive to the office. I work until about the same time I did plus the time it took me to drive home. Since I have a home office setup for work, I often work during the middle of the night as well. It is far better of a value for my company.

Wow, used to be the boss told you what to do not the other way around, fire them all. You have to set a standard of what's going to happen if you don't show up to work.

The company I work for is laying off 500 people until February… meanwhile, they’ll be hiring new people to replace those people until February… lucky I was spared from those layouts but don’t be surprise if companies decide to clean house now.
You know what's even worse, when teachers in washington go on strike because they don't want to return to work because they got lazy from "pandemic" closures
