UPDATE: Spoke to the CEO of Rainier Arms. It was a good conversation and they explained that the city was going to get it anyway through discovery so they settled.
I guess it was a live to fight another day type thing. The city would have gotten it, but should have have forced a trial to get it? I haven't been in that situation and stared down the possible death of the company so I am not going to pass judgement.

That same info will be shared with not only NYC but also NY state & the ATF. These sellers and manufactures need to stop holding information on buyers and immediately after the transaction destroy all information on that said customer. Rainer arms just screwed themselves. And if you believe that ONLY NYC customer info is being handed over, you're a fool. No doubt CA, NJ, MD, IL and other Communists states will magically have their customer info as well. That's a shame, Rainier Arms has done professional work on my firearms when nobody else would touch them. They're one of the few companies that pins gas blocks to barrels and accurizes upper receivers.

I think keeping customer information should be optional on the part of the customer. If the customer has to get a RMA after purchase, the company would obviously have to keep the records to do that. That means if the customer requests that no records be kept then they can't return an item. They forfeited that privilege by opting out. Now, remember that this is purely the decision of the customer. They can either choose anonymity or that the seller can verify a purchase for the purpose of customer service. The way things are going you never know what is going to be made illegal in the future. And frankly the idea that no record of sales exist would give me a some comfort in these crazy times we live in.
They are coming for everyone of us. This goes back to old S&W handing over customer records to a group of people as part of an out of court settlement. Or the ATF taking sales records from Polymer 80 over an arbitrary whim that "kits" are now guns! What is happening to Trump will soon be happening to all of us. Obviously the Left believes THEY CAN PULL OFF THE CONFISCATION OF 400 MILLION GUNS.

I dealt with Rainier years ago and they are scu%&&%.The fact that they did this does not surprise me. Regardless of whether it would have come out during discovery Rainier did not fight, but folded not to fight another day but to continue to take advantage of customer by selling crappy products and even worse customer service.
There simply is no excuse for supporting this kind of fascism . . .

Rainier Arms folded quicker than a whore on a date. They gave out people's info because they don't care, and want to protect themselves only. Instead of waiting til they were forced to turn it over, they just handed it over voluntarily. I recommend nobody uses rainier arms for anything any longer.
